I know that some of you are familiar with Llyn Brianne reservior in Mid Wales.

It seems that Kayakers have taken to going down the 300 foot slipway:

See film of the kayakers here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/7735242.stm

I know, it looks bloody brilliant eh?

In the film clip I like the fact that loon#1 gets some great air at the bottom, but loon#2 gets the mother of all face plants  ;D

Marvellous stuff

Going up?  ;D

To be fair, Welsh Water are pretty pissed off about this. They don't allow any boating activities on the reservior itself. However, the dam is more or less unmanned most of the time so how can they stop 'em?

These guys have life jackets, helmets and (it would seem) some talent. It's when the rubber ring and swimming trunks brigade get involved that we'll see some aggro.

GC,

I'm trying to imagine what could possibly go wrong, if you went down there in a lorry sized inner tube? The water on the slide doesn't look very deep, I imagine your coupon would be in some state if you face-planted half way down  :D

Here's a couple of (safer?) ways to have a giggle:

If you really enjoy a good thrill, how about extreme unicycling?

The guy on the unicycle must be insane as well as supremely talented!

Great fun to watch though!

Was In Norway this summer and watched them base jumping from the top of the Lliesfjord, absolutely amazing, especially one bloke who had the winged suit, he could glide for a few hundred metres!
If I'm not working I'll be away on my bike camping!

Steve,

As my old mate Danny Carlton once said of me, I'm as fast as a weekend in Barlinnie  ;D I just noticed you have a Tenere! My boy and me have one each, his is brown, mine's is black.

Anyhow, I was over in Norway a couple of years ago touring with my wife, rode down the Lyseboten road. Magic place Norway, but there urny oany boats going there now. I put a wee slideshow on youtube, my first and it shows, check the description and you'll see why  :-[

I have trouble with these extreme types who ride along cliff edges, etc. To my mind the trick is in the riding and adding a potentially fatal drop to the mix just seems stupid.

I can ride a unicycle (a bit) and let me tell you, he is bloody amazing, but he's just as amazing at 3 foot up as he is at 3,000 foot up.

for the me the riding is the thing, not the bullshit heroics.
