Latest addition to the stable is a 1982 Cb 250 Rs . 39,000 , very standard , tool kit , handbook , service record etc .Very original , not concours but very usable .A few niggles but nothing untoward . However has anyone replaced the cush drive . It's an RSA , therefore has the four bobbins and appears to be an a**e of a job .

Hints and tips anyone ?

Is this the forum equivalent of two women whispering and giggling together whilst their boyfriends look on bemused?  ;)

Anyway to return to the thread, I've seen Rob's CB250RS and it looks very smart. It's not concours, someone has been at the frame and swingarm with the old Smoothrite, but it's all there and tidy. Can't be many left in that condition.

A good buy I'd say.

Even in the darkest of nights , and after copious amounts of Claret how , by all that is sacred, could anyone mistake myself and Boyd for two women whispering and giggling .

Steffan , Yes it is a honda , but it is said that you do meet the nicest people on one .Pics to follow in due course .

Jethro, Yes , bit wobbly , you can feel it when ridden and there is movement at the sprocket .Therefore I think they do need to come out .

I had a Honda once, though I don't like to mention it. :-[ In my defence I would point out I was very young and didn't know any better. ::) It was only the once mind, so maybe it was just a youthful aberration.

Enfield is going strong and I am savouring the MZ rebuild. No Pat, life is not always easy but at least we can seek to preserve our self respect. :P

I've had a couple of excellent Hondas.  A 1970 P50 and a C70 or 90 Cub.  Best bikes Honda ever built.

CX500"

Also worked for several other Hondas too.  VF750 anybody ?

We shouldn't really be so cruel about Hondas - even though I think I started it.  Especially as I rather like MZs.  No camchains mind, which has to be a good thing.

I have a confession to make .................

I have had quite a few hondas over the years .....

XL 185S , CB125S1 , CB250 RS { 1st time round } CB500 / 4 , CB 400/ 4 and now a second CB 250RS  and briefly a GB400 .

This does not make me a bad person , honest .

I have to be fair though , the 1st 250 rs gave me some massive smiles . I remember some find rides around the Wye valley .
However I still miss my XT 500 .

All time favourite thumper you have owned , anyone ?

That Honda Cub.  Brilliant machine, truly one of the worlds greatest bikes.  Nothing will beat the look on the faces of the, mainly German, BMW riders on the mountain pass towards Dingle on the W. Coast of Ireland as I rode past on UK plates.

Everybody should, and probably has, owned one.

There's a British bloke I've met at the Elefant who has ridden to LOTS of winter rallies in Britain and mainland Europe on a Cub. Mind you, I seem to remember him saying that he needed two weeks off work to get to the Elefant and back again  :o

Funnily enough, I was looking at my Dragon site stats and I saw that I'd had a lot of hits via the UK Cub90 website forum. I popped over and saw that they were discussing doing the Dragon this year. Good lads  ;)

Dont start me on Hondas....!!!!!   CX500,VF750,CB750/900,CBX1000,CB1100R what a crap design that was OH ! dont forget the VTEC 800,Camino,Stream,FT500 etc...etc....the list goes on...!

Mind they have produced some loverly stuff to the C50,70,90s,RFVC engine,CBX750,VFR750 and the V-twin is a good set up VT500,Translap,Africa Twin etc !

But there ALL the manufacturers have had their moments good and bad.
And of course we all have our own personal favourites.
