Start the week topic: What should a weekend wonder ride?

Well chaps, as of two weeks time, my days of commuting by bike are over. The new job is based at home and comes with a car, so thirteen years of riding in any weather at 6.00 am is over. The MZ is going off the road (tax and MOT expired) for a referb/split the dates and the outfit will be a play thing.

This set me thinking. Should I be going out any buying something red with 12 mile service intervals and demonic valves? Am I more of a leather tassles person? Do I need something with a combined expresso machine/toastie maker build into the heated CD player?

The big question is how do I explain being so scruffy and riding a machine that see's more salt than polish when I can no longer claim it's just a machine to getting to the office?

Simple - by being yourself.  If you wanted a highly polished crotchrocket you would have had one all along.  You ride a ratty bike because you are happy that way.  Dont change.

Ahhh, for you? Whatever you like.. for the "proper" weekend wonders, whatever I fancy riding in a couple of years when they've taken the depreciation hit for me and run it in for a couple of thousand miles

You could just ride around the block every morning and still claim to ride to work each day.
