Has anyone seen one of these in the flesh?

It looks lovely... but perhaps a bit small?

Nice looking aren't they. Not seen one in the flesh though. The CR model is rather splendid too...

Here's the CR:

Er... dare I suggest that the chainguard arrangements might not get past an MOT?

BTW, weren't they thinking of making a full faired café racer?

i've ridden the supermoto version, and its absolutely fantastic.

the build quality isn't japanese, but its miles better than ducati. its got loads of lovely little parts that are clearly hand made, one-offs not even made in batches.

the one i rode had a big-bore kit on it taking it to about 480cc, and a remus exhaust that makes a goldstar sound a bit 'woolley'. front wheel up in first second and third, and excellent handling and brakes.

if i had the cash i'd buy one tomorrow over any other modern bike.

possibly the only bike i've ridden with loads of character that wasn't and old brit- which means you won't get bored.

Yeah I saw one of the original monoshock jobs at the rally where we got some bikes nicked and subsequwntly followed up with contacting the marketing manager to get a couple to our annual rally. At the time that said yes but a week before the rally they said no. The design is dated and those mudguards must be from the back of some old stock shed. Only 400cc (DR Suzuki engine) and very expensive compared to competition. Wouldn't touch one with a barge pole, If their spares, repair, servicing is anything compared to their attitude with me then they can go swing. I'll put good money on the new Tenere that I will be getting will beat every aspect of these bikes especially the price. And what about accesories, pah.

SteveD

My attitude may have been a little more tolerant had the bikes turned up for our annual rally but when a British manufacturer within an hours ride of a Single cylinder riders club rally cannot get it's act together and show off / free advertising then .........say no more!

If I'm not working I'll be away on my bike camping!

Saw the FT35 at Boston bike night last year.

Very pretty bike in the flesh, It would be great fun for a sunday afternoon blast but probably not very practical.  Rather expansive though, and as Steve D says, spares situation might be a bit iffy.

I asked the question because Simon Morgan has told me that he is interested in replacing his venerable DR650 with the CCM street scrambler. I can't say I blame him, I think they have got the styling just right.

Why worry about the spares situation? I have never needed much for my CCM but never struggled to get any parts that I have needed. And mines an older Rotax engine, the newer ones using suzuki engines are even easier for spares. As for the quality issue noway is it better than a Ducati either, they do put some quality parts on but the build quality is hardly anything to shout about. My Duc is far better built and I didnt have to "finish building" it either. But all said and done I would not be with out my CCM its been ultra reliable all the time I have abused it.
