When people use the contact page on the web-site, I also get copied, this is mainly so I can check for any abuse of the page using automated tools.
I therefore received a copy of the latest membership enquiry. I appreciate this has nothing to do with me anymore but the person in question did not sound like a happy bunny so can you make sure you respond.

I replied to the email in question within five minutes of receiving it.

Memberhsip is very much on this week's 'to do' list, but it's proving to be a cow of a task.

Nowhere near and it won't be happening  :(

I think the priority is to get the current batch of memberships sorted out and then look around for a new MS.

It's fair to say that I have never been so fed up with the admin side of the club. When I started the club in '98 I was PAYE and a half the week father. Now I'm self-employed with two little boys running around the house and my wife often works evenings.

Adding to the problem is the number of memberships that turned up with orders for badges and patches that we don't have.

Grizzle, grizzle

So do you want our cheques now or is this just going to add to the workload? I'm happy to keep freeloading, but do say if you want the dosh  :)

It's also fair to say that I've twice volunteered to take on the membership work, and got no positive response on either occasion.

I noticed that Richard has volunteered on more than one occasion.
That being the case and Onepot seemingly over burdened why not take Richards offer up?
Seems like a plan to me.

I wish I could understand what you mean Steve, but I don't.
Not the hackneyed cliche of course but the sentiment behind it.

The last time you volunteered another chap also volunteered and he was absolutely keen as mustard and he only lives about 500 metres from me. I thought that this would make it easier for all sorts of reasons. However, his life is busy too and he still hasn't managed to get himself on-line (vital for the role).

It was never intended as a snub, it was just poor decision making  :-[

I just recently noticed that there is a membership fee for an internet user of this site.
As I'll not ever see you guys personally, live 5000 miles away and only wanted to shoot the breeze does this mean I have to leave now?  :'(

Aye HiLift,

Are U sure you want to view personaly?   ;D

I don't make up the rules, thats the Welsh mafia, but I doubt if many will get too fussy. However, the PayPal facility can't be that difficult or pricey surely? £6 for a years worth of Babble and good advice! ;)

Keep boppin', Bill.

There is no compulsion to join the club, however as with most things in this world nothing is for free and it costs money to host the site, pay insurance etc, hence the membership.

Perhaps I'm a little out of touch here... there's no charge to view this site and to contribute to the forums. Isn't that the case? nobody will be asked to leave  ;)

I thought the internet charge covered full access to the site (large images of brochures, etc), earlier access to adverts and access to the on-line newsletter.

Agreed but currently, due to the issues over membership there are no restrictions on the site, so no real incentive to join the club
