Not so much of a project but there we go.
The rear wheel bearings had some play (hence no MOT) so after dropping the rear wheel out I decided to strip the rear suspension. This is one of the first monoshock linkages I've stripped and nothing was seized/rusted/full of water. Need to clean everything up but it seems ok.

just to let you know that i have a few bits left from the Muz i took the engine out of for my Goose project,so if you need anything let me know i might just have what you need,Have you sold either of your bikes to fund this one or is it another to add to your collection?

Hi Steve,

Sounds like you are lucky that the rest of the rear suspensions bearings are ok- the spherical bearing has a pretty hard life...

You may want to think about drilling and tapping the rocker for a grease nipple? If you can be bothered! I couldn't, but dont use it that much... MZ's later parts had one fitted as standard.

Enjoy! They are good bikes I think. Flawed but fun, I would say

Alan, cheers for that, what bits have you got left over ? I suspect most of the useful stuff like the exhaust went on the Goose.
The DR will be sold at some point, but I will probabaly wait untill the Spring.

I still have the frame,swing arm,foot rest brackets,rear suspension linkage,rear spring,and lots of bolts and spindles,rear wheel i think.But as you said the exhaust is on the Goose.

All cleaned up nicely. Interestingly all of the seals were fitted to opposite way to the way I expected. Thay are back to front with the lip seal tensioner spring facing outwards. Presumably to stop water getting in rather than stopping the grease getting out. I dont think Ive seem this before (or not noticed)

No worries, can't argue with any of that. Brakes are OK once you replace them with Brembos a bit like the shock

Gear Ratio works OK if you ride it like a 2T

Carbs, well you should have felt the throttle response on Bill's new road bike...stuff me it was almost pre-cognition.

I really want one of those single mikuni set ups

My line is that if something is mediocre, expectations are so low that there are few if any complaints but when something is particularly fine (as in the case of the Skorpion) then people notice the little niggles.

I put WP Progressives in mine when I rebuilt them. Quite good for 70 quid... And the stock ones were bent!!

The traveller is intended to replace the DR and will be used for taking the kids and the wife out. Ive no plans to go tear-arsing around on it (I have the SRX for that), so hopefully some of these limitations wont be so obvious. That said I suspect a Brembo is on the shopping list, I never got on with the Grimecas on the Morini I had.

Does anyone do a rack for the Traveller/Tour. Hepco and Becker do a combined rack pannier frames, but I'm just looking for a rack

the only one I am aware of is the Aerosport one, where you buy the rack and the fitting kit seperately, very pricey.

I'll wager you won't be able to help yourself with regards to tear-arsing, that is pretty much their sole purpose.
