It will soon be that time again and for the fifth year running the Thumper Club will have a stand at the 14th. Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show in Stafford. The dates for this year are:
FRIDAY 19th until SUNDAY 21st OCTOBER 2007
I need to know ASAP what bikes will be available to put on the stand - Friday night until Sunday evening. I have allowed for a minimum of six but could accommodate up to eight. It is always a struggle to get confirmations and it usually relies on the 'stalwarts' (you know who you are). If possible I'd like to get an XBR, an SRX, a CB250RS, and an SR, as well as Bruce's Big4, but I know its unlikely. Whatever people are prepared to offer we will be most grateful for.
I haven't confirmed yet but I'm sure we will have the usual 'End-of-Year-Bash' with the marquee, BBQ and possibly some beer. I have asked the organisers for twelve weekend tickets and these will obviously be available firstly to those who show bikes, and secondly to those who help out on the stand for the whole weekend.
The basic 'theme' of this years stand is: Evolution, so expect some sort of museum setting. It will also feature a 'cabinet of curiosities' containing interesting items relating to the 'development' of motorcycling, and the supremacy of singles in particular - all of which will be totally fictitious. This part of the display will give those who can not attend the event, but would still like to support the club, a chance to produce something towards its success. If you can think of, or even better make and send to me, a small (amusing and/or absurd) object for the cabinet it would be a great help. As an example: a potato will be labeled as a 'Harley-Davidson egg'. Go play! If you have 'interesting' items of apparel (leathers, Belstaffs, helmets etc.), again with fictitious provinance, these could also form part of the display.
I know that writing in upper case is considered to be shouting but:
PLEASE CONTACT ME TO CONFIRM BIKES FOR THE STAND, HELP WITH THE STAND OR IDEAS/OBJECTS FOR THE CABINET VIA E-MAIL ASAP! Sorry.
