I have bought another bike but it is not a Thumper!  (hangs head in shame) it's a twin. But please don't chuck me out.If it comes to it I can always get the grinder out and chop one cylinder off!

What're you like! Not to worry you'll be very welcome on here I'm sure. Just having an interest in Thumpers/rallies/stoves/beer etc.  should guarantee a warm reception.

You just need to think of an utterly pointless explanation. For example:

Triumph Bonneville: A type of split single in that i'm told both pistons go up and down together.
MZ: Double sided thumper

(Whispers) I havn't actually had one of these 4-stroke single cylinder things for almost a year.

Heyy what is the problem - it is just two thumpers in a shared frame.

Notice the number of people on here who have 2-strokes, 4-stroke multies or like me 2-stroke multies - not been kicked out yet

Excuse me Mr Rog, but I am a thumper purist.. Two four stroke thumpers in the shed, although technically modern Jap singles are not really thumpers and then there is my 2T fetish but they too have single cylinders....made a mess of that one...

Hey Toad,
I've got a CD175 and they still let me in. Actually i sold it yesterday but I'm getting another one. So, don't keep us all in suspenders, tell us what you've bought.

Having just sold the CD, I've got a few hundred quid burning a hole in my wallet and I'm in the market for a new toy myself. I'm contemplating an MT500 but I'll see what comes up. I think my Missus might have strong views on the subject.

Don't worry Toad, the club is for 4 stroke single cylinder enthusiasts, so as long as your enthusiastic about thumpers I don't suppose it matters what you actually ride :-) After all 002, the club Stalwart, rides a boxer, and our esteemed leader has been known to have the odd spare cylinder in the past too.

Oh I've got all the right interests,so has my hubby but ,alas, not a thumper between us. Why aren't there as many singles to choose from as there are twins, triples and fours?
...My bike? an 18 yr old but immaculate EN450.

PS: any relation to Michael Rutter?

Aye TOAD,

Keep riding it, thats the main thing.

Kat gets stopped by all sorts when she goes shopping on the BROS 400, including nosy 'traffic' in plain cars trying to provoke an adverse reaction to sloppy signaling and erratic braking! Restraint won the day!

We wish you a long and happy relationship. Eh Pat?

Cheers, Bill

Toad, yes indeed I'm related to Michael Rutter. He's my elder brother. However he isn't the great motorcycle racer but a Director with Titan Lifts  ;-) I remember taking him to the Trans-Atlantic Trophy races at Brands Hatch on the back of my Suzuki GS850 back in 1978 and him shouting "Do the ton, do the ton" down the A2. Happy days for me but I couldn't convert him from his cars.

Sad isn't it.  I have a brother who is car mad too.  Despite me taking him to Brands (from Southend) on the back of my chopped down KH250.  He had one leg in plaster at the time due to a previous accident on a fizzy.  We strapped his crutches to the bike and away we went.  Things you do when you're young and carefree.  Doubt we'd get away with it now days :-)

JUST HAD A THOUGHT.  I COULD FIX IT SO THE ENGINE PERMANENTLY RUNS ON ONE.   THIS SEEMS TO BE QUITE COMMON PRACTISE AMONGST SOME MEMBERS OF THE BIKING FRATERNITY ANYWAY,I'LL FIT IN NICELY  :-)
