Non thumper question
« on: May 10, 2007, 08:47:44 PM »
Hi Guys
One for the landrover owners. I have a static caravan which is getting on a bit which is made of aluminium. however the paint is oxidising and in places the aluminium has come through.
My question is how to stabilise the oxidation and what paint to buy to hand brush it. Also is there a particular brush to use.

Rub it down.
Use an etch primer.
Use any paint compatible with the primer any way you want to.

Yup, the problem with asking Landrover owners is that if they get as far as repainting they tend to fall into two camps, those who give it to a bodyshop and then refit it to their "restored classic" which is in fact far better built than any new Landrover EVER was.. or the other camp who just hammerite it and then go and get some more dents and scrapes...

If you saw my Landy you'd know which camp I fall into... ;)

Well, giving it to the bodyshop is out of the budget and as I'm not going off road hopefully no more dents. Cancel that, as the kids happily seem to adjust the panels with various bikes and golf balls etc.

thanks for the advice will have a go later this summer.
