Unusual Thumper

I'm hoping this works. Found this photo from "The Big Breakfast" at Press Heath back in 2012. Anyone recognize it?

Aye Ian,

DR750 in a Starfire frame, no sure about the wheels and forks?

Looks a really nice bit of kit for tootling about and then picking up the throttle and surprising a few people.

Thank you for posting.

Good health, Bill

Well well, I went to look at the photo last night, but was required to register to access the photo, so decided not to.
It sounds like my bike, a DR750 engine in a modified DR800 frame, using GS1000 forks and a GS550 swinging arm, plus a few other Suzuki parts.
I used the later Starfire/Firebird steel tank with GRP sidepanels, put together to look like a Starfire.
I took it to Spain a few years ago for the classic Motopiston Rally and the Goldstar/Thruxton boys were a bit upset when I kept up with them...two up. ;D
It's been to a few TC rallies, here and abroad.
Dave.

Sorry Dave#22 I didn't  realise that you had to register to look at the photo. I will resize it and put it on here. I think you have built a brilliant looking bike and of course it has the correct number of pistons. Ian 👍

Yes, that's the bike I built...years ago I had an SR500, then I discovered the DR BIG range, so I sold the SR, but missed the classic style and loved the DR engines (4v, twin balance shafts, twin carb and 45hp), so I thought I'd build a classic styled bike in the form of a BSA Starfire using Suzuki mechanical parts.

Thank you for the correct details rather than my guesstimate! :-[

Yes that’s a smart looking conversion Dave, even down to the period back rack and top box 😉.
Lovely looking bike👍

Part with?...no, I still have it, on SORN at present. I was going to put it on the road this month, but with one thing and another, it didn't happen.
