oh dear what have I done this time....
« on: April 22, 2020, 04:38:37 PM »
Every time I get stuck in house and unable to ride some of the bikes I have,  I start looking at for sale items... This time it wasn't my fault, honest... A chap I know offered me a very nice Gilera 150, no good as I already have one, but he also had a very clean Honda cb350s-g and a lot of French mopeds. But he also showed me pictures of a Manurhin scooter, now I have wanted one for years ( no idea why) and before I could say ' my seeds from Marshals have arrived' I had suggested a deal for the Honda and the Manureheap  for my Terrot. The new bikes arrive Friday.... No hope for me

If you want to know what ugly French (german) scooters look like Google Manurhin Hobby and have a laugh

Aye Rufus,

No my cup of tea, but it's what makes the world go round. Commodious and with all the pressed steel could be a nightmare for metal worm!  :-\

Yes, seeds have arrived and are in the ground!  ;)

Good health, Bill

Hi Spooky, I can sympathize about being in lockdown and looking at the for sale items. I'm more fortunate than most in that I have been traveling to work this week on 2 wheels but I still get a bit curious about bikes for sale. In fact I have taken a good hard look at the Benelli this week.....who knows? 🙄
As for the Manhurin.... It reminded me of the NSU Prima apart from wheel size.. Not TOO ugly IMHO. Good job we don't all like the same things... That's all I can say

Cb350 (around 1987??) a smart-looking bike!! Quite fancy one.  Always felt a bit sorry for Honda, I remember one bike mag (possibly Bike, who had an axe to grind) doing back to back test: Yam 350 LC (actually prob YPVS by then) versus CB350,-then proclaiming the ‘Ondra slow and shite.
XBR500,  FT500 (USA reg still but now starts/runs nicely!)

Hi Rufus

I have often discussed with my mate why as motorcyclists we never seem happy to just own the bike we have. No matter how good it (they) are we always seem to be looking for the next one. I suppose it is because of love for bikes or something like that. I have been searching for the 'perfect' bike for 45 years now.

My criteria are, simple, cheap to run, enough power to pull well especially uphill, rugged and reliable and lastly interesting. It's the last one that is the bugger as what is interesting to me this week will have changed next week.

Take the GN250 of yours that I now have, 9 out of 10 for that. I would like a bit more power, say a GN400 oh hang on I had one of those and sold it to buy an SLR 650 as I wanted more power! So why sell the SLR? Well I wanted another BMW so bought an R1100R, plenty of power so why sell that? Too heavy and complicated.....and so it goes.

I've decided to stop playing around and just keep the GN250. Mind you I haven't decided what I'm going to do with the CBF500 yet.

Well both the new ones arrived, to be honest I don't want either, it was a case of the market for selling the Honda is better than for the Terrot that has gone...watch the for sale page ! I will probably play around with the scooter for a while though..😕

Footrest now modified, no major alterations needed, gear lever reversed so now it's up for down..just need brake pedal extending then it will be my new sprint and hill climbs bike..

For next year !

Not very serious, mainly for fun, when I used my gn250 I did quite well, the Honda will be in  the same class (road bike) but I don't think it will be any quicker, mainly cos I knew the Gn inside out and could get it off the line well, the Honda will not be ridden daily like the Gn either so will take longer to get used to.However it depends if they cancel this year's events, July and October, failing that next year.
