I remember Grandstand on Saturday, but scrambling coverage must have gone by then. Great to see how it was done back then!  :D

That scrambles footage from the BBC certainly brought back memories. It was probably as fuzzy on the old B&W sets then as it is now!

I met Jeff Smith once. He had his BSA (B40 based) bikes maintained (and was still riding them) by the late Fred Barlow who was my Norton Commando guru and had a little shop in Tamworth conveniently on the way when I had regular trips from Brum to York in the early 1990s Jeff was a very nice chap and very unassuming.

I watched the world speedway championship from 1981 this morning on YouTube. Fantastic racing and great to revive old memories. I was there!
