Aye Ian,

Column space filler tapped out by a numpty, whilst couped up in a condo!

Trust you are in good health?

Arctic air has returned here, with 100% cloud cover. One swallow hasn't made a summer, but the wee soul lifted my spirits, when it came past on Friday last.

Regards, Bill

Hello Bill, weather just a tad cooler today here but still reasonable for April. Earlier this week we topped around the 25°  mark. Still not quite as warm as what it was in Brazil earlier last month....32° was order of tha day. Hope all your bikes are in fine fettle now and ready to return to full use whenever that will be
My regards. Ian 👍

As you say gents predictable and very easy to write from an office. I think it was written by a car journalist anyway as in the first line he uses the phrase 'when you are hurtling down the road at 60 mph'. 60! Hardly a hurtle. I have Colin my GN250 held at 60 for heavens sake and I don't have the word hurtle in mind.

Would make an interesting new thread though Ian; what are the real life experiences of TC members as regards reliability?

I'll start off. My best? My previous encounter with The Mighty Enfield I suppose, 20,000 miles or so in the first twelve months I owned him and no issues as such. My worst? A Jawa 350 bought new in 1976 (Sorry Pete) main bearing failure in 4,500 miles.

Just a thought.

Ironically my most and least reliable bikes are the same make
Most reliable....the Triumph Street Twin I now own. Least reliable...2014 Triumph Bonneville....I can't remember how many times that bike went back and how many parts has to be replaced. Fortunately I had taken out a small amount of finance on the bike and Black Horse eventually took the bike back....I think I lost about 50 quid on the whole deal.

Did you find out why you had such a bad one?

Sounds like you unfortunately got a “Friday “ bike Ian. All three of the speed triples I owned were extremely reliable. The first two I put fairly big miles on both of them without a single hiccup and rode them in every kind of weather, 365 days a year man back then🤪.  The last one (a 1050) was also very reliable, although I didn’t put quite the same high mileage on that one. I’d defo own another trumpet any day.

Mthee, Never found out why it was such a rogue bike. I was just glad to be rid of it. However the Street Twin I now own is worlds apart. 😁👍
