Badly missed
« on: October 18, 2016, 08:49:22 PM »
Whilst at Stafford, I was asking Moto63, how is brother, Propeller, was, as I hadn't seen any posts on here from him for ages. Michael tells me, that he's lost interest in bikes at the moment. I am saddened by this, as the Prop posted some of the most interesting, and in depth engineering threads on here. I have to admit that I didn't always understand all of them, but I found them fascinating, and always learned something. I'm sure some of the real engineers on here, such as the Mouldie, and Joolz etc,  miss their online in depth engineering discussions, and problem solving on here  :(

Aye timbo and Michael,

Sorry to read Prop' has gone AWOL for a while, but I hope his interest returns; if he feels like it. I have known others whom you would have thought would be smitten for the rest of their days, suddenly sell the lot and go bush in their own sweet way. Sometimes you have to take things a minute at a time and ours isn't the place to pry.  :-X

I have been known to not ride a motorcycle for several years, due to circumstances, even though the 450 remained in the shed. Bikes can become an 'illness', like most things in excess.

P.S. I'm no engineer, more of a self taught tinkerer and applier of a cold chisel and 2lb ball pein!  ;)  I am in debt to many patient souls whom have passed on snippets of wisdom or hard won nous and I can but thank them, apply it and then pass it on, if it works.

Good health and check your lock nuts with a thumper, its the torque! Your old 'bacon slicer' has it by the bucket!  ;)

My regards, Bill

Cheers Bill. Aye, I too have had periods of two wheeled disinterest. I'm sure most of us have   :-\

Yes, I miss Andy's posts too. Not that I always understood them! However, once it's in your blood you can't kick it IMHO. He'll be back... :)

Maybe when you're at Propeller's level, there's a lot more to attract your attention and apply your knowledge/skills to?
I attempted to give up biking for the wife and stepson a few years back. They didn't ask, but we're worried about getting by without me if I got unlucky. Anyway, I lasted 7 miserable months as I learned that, even though I don't get to ride much, just having the bike in the garage is mportant to me.
I hope your brother "recovers", Michael - I'll be sending grapes and a small tube of copaslip for you to wave under his nose  :)

I did wonder where he'd gone.

Hope he comes back to the fold soon, I do miss his threads. Completely over my head most of the time but most enjoyable for a lump hammer mechanic like me!

I enjoyed those threads. Wish him well.

As a rider (maintenance and tinkering is just a variation of the 9-5 in miniature to me), i think life is easier. Bored of the road, buy a trail bike, bored of that, get a C90. Its time, daylight and good weather I'm short of, the bike places to go list just keeps growing.

Evening gents, you lot shudda try,d growing up with them there thread/posts like conversations  ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)......yes I too miss him, mainly as a riding buddy. Non better (IMHO) I can always just text him up and fire a question at him and I will always get a decent, knowledgeable response, not unlike some of his threads/posts......at the moment he seems to av made his mind up so don't really know if he intends to ride again,we'll see....in the meantime like Matt says I'll atta just keep sending him little packages of copper slip ;) ;) ;) ;)
Cheers..Michael
Ps...thanks to you all for posting your messages, I'm sure he'll be secretly quite chuffed

Hello chaps. Thanks to timbo and everyone for the kind words. Yes it's true. I'm "off" bikes for the time being. It didn't seem fair to talk the talk if I'm not walking the walk.  ;D

I'll pop in from time to time to see what's going down.

Best regards to everyone.

Cheers.
