« on: March 19, 2013, 04:09:12 PM »
hi carrying on from my camshaft woes it would appear that the piston is worn on each side vertical deep scrapings i have found a honda dominator 650 head with camshaft and rockers valves etc will this fit the 500 since it would appear i will have to change the piston should i go for a dominator barrel and piston also  :(

I doubt if the Domi barrel would fit the XBR easily, at the very least you would have to open up the crankcase mouth.  The usual upgrade is to fit an XL600R barrel/piston. If you can find a complete Domi engine, it will fit into the XBR frame pretty easily, considering you're going to need a barrel, piston and head this may be an option.

I had a Kent cam, it was OK or racing but it wouldn't have been a good choice for road use as the rockers ended up at odd angles so you got uneven wear on the tappets. I'm not sure about the Dommie head, the rocker cover should be a pair with the head as they are line-bored.
