I took my scarcely used Skorpion for its MOT today. Friday has been my study day which means down to Lampeter to work on the PhD so it had to be early. Eifion was happy and I was happy if poorer and so with the MOT stored, I padded out to the bike. Helmet on, keys in the ignition, press the button and bam.. the plonker had left it gear. Grab, fumble, strain.. down she goes (OK Mark there is your cue!!). No harm done but leaving a chap's bike in gear is not in the best traditions... I mean really!!
Off to Lampeter, parked up on the new Piazza at the Uni - looked very continental, I mean I should charge them to make them look that good.. until some witless jobsworthy comes along and tells me to move it, in case it drips oil...DRIPS OIL, this isn't brit iron, this is quality German/ Jap manufacture and award winning british design - I knew it would happen the moment certain factions took over. They have no style, no aesthetic sensibility and obviously have never been across the channel.
I took a break around noon and went to see a mate who looking to part with some meaty japanese iron which was born about the time I finished high school - I need it like a hole in the head but I am tempted ;-)
