Birthday wheeze.

Some of you may know that RobG was the owner of a nice little CB250RS. It is the black and blue model, exactly the same as my brother owned when he was 18. About 6 weeks ago I made Rob an offer, I suggested furnishing him with all he needed to make an XBR500 from my extensive parts store and in return I would have the CB to give to my brother for his birthday.

Today is Gareth's birthday and I gave him a parcel containing a pair of early 80s plastic bike gloves and a set of keys on a 'Motorhead' key fob, much as he owned back 'in the day'. He asked "What are the keys for?" and I said "take a look outside". He was speechless  ;D

In turn Rob has done fantastic work turning a collection of bits into a very tidy XBR500, so hopefully it's winners all round. Mind you at the end of this whole process I'm still bikeless  ::)

My humour hasn't been greatly in evidence lately, I've had too much work on lots of home and work projects.

And yes I still haven't finished that bloody GB. It looks the bollocks though. All I need to do now is oil it up (watching out for air locks), fit the battery, pour in the juice and start her up.

One of my oldest biking friends is a good mechanic and fettles sportsbikes as a sideline. He is taking a very keen interst in the Ikuzawa and I'm beginning to think that the old Harris might be the next in line to get legal and rolling. It would be stupid to turn down his offer to help build it.

My brother, on the other hand, is already getting stuck into fettling the CB250. Rob kept it in good order but Gareth is talking about a gentle restoration. He's also gone Ebay mad looking for bits.
