Oops, the clue to my confusion is in your statement, I didn't look at all and instead relied on a beer-addled memory.
I also seem to remember that the bloke had a company building oak-framed buildings and the like, and he had a real interest in working to a standard way above building regs when fitting insulation. It must be nice to have customers who will pay for that sort of thing. The other week i reported back to a landlord on a property and told her that I thought a bathroom condensation problem was caused by a lack of insulation. She sent me back to do more looking and I found that the ceiling space had about 1" depth of rockwool installed (
). When I told her this she said, "so it is insulated, what are the tenants moaning about". Makes you weep.
