The brake pistons are piss-poor though. Has anyone found a decent alternative that will fit? It's a pain on the XBR because the calliper runs very close to the spokes so a lot of callipers won't fit.

Give Wemoto a try. Their stainless pistons and rebuild kits have maked a marked improvement to the Boy Bros front stopper. This is a real scunner, as there are 4 pistons of two different diameters. Over £80-00 + seals etc!
I'll keep clear of Ebay for a while so that you can flood the market!
