It seemed to be mostly l books for me this year. Was given Jupiter's Travels that i had left hints requesting and  a very good book I can recommend called Adventure Motorcycling Handbook. All you could even need to know about long distance touring. And to top it up a couple of QI books although these are a little strange to get into.

Ken.

Chris Scott does indeed write a great book. Talked to him at some show for a few minutes, he seemed a really nice guy and a bit put out that all these Ewan Mcgregor lookalikes seem to view it as some sort of combined bible and shopping list. Told him to think of the money, which he thought wasn't a bad idea.

My book this year was "adventures of a motorcycle despatch rider during the first world war" by Captain W.H.L. Watson. It mostly covers the period of the mobile actions before the trench warfare really got started. He worries a lot about where his next decent meal will come from rather than finding it particularly odd that it took a while to clean his carb while being machine gunned! He was more polite about the fitter who put water in his fuel tank than I'd have been, especially when German lancers were on the horizon. A different breed back then I guess.

I think there is a lot of cold about. I never, ever get ill and I've had a sore throat bad enough to take something.
