Didn't we have a loverly day, the day we went to Ledge Point,
A beautiful day,we had lunch on the way,
and all for under ten bucks you know
And on the way back the Skorp did make tracks
and used up lots of roadspace,as the wheels went round!

Sunday was better although slightly wetter
we made it as far as Aldi,
'cos on saturday night the weather was sh!te
And the fence blew down.

STOP IT!

I've got 'Daytrip to Bangor' in my bloody head now! 

My weekend went tits up. Saturday was supposed to be a day off, but a phone call at 8am let me know that my dad's cafe sign had blown down in the wind and could I come to fix it? Then a shop in Penarth needed their door planed because it was sticking and that turned into a huge production (although I did say hello to ex club member Chris Rees as he rode past the shop).

With the added hassle of football match traffic I didn't get home until 6.00. Then a bloke rang up to arrange picking up a caravan cooker that I'd sold on Ebay. He said he'd be with me in the hour, but an hour later I got a call from him. He was lost in Treforest Industrial Estate some seven miles away from my house. I gave him directions to get him here but he rang back in 20 minutes to say "I'm back in Treforest, I think I took the wrong turning again". 

When he did turn up he surprised me by saying that he didn't intend using the cooker for a caravan or motorhome, no he was going to use it in his basement flat. That's Ebay for you, always giving little insights into other people's lifes.

Sunday was spent in giving Sue some mother's day treats from the boys (and a really long lay-in) before turning my attention to cooking lunch (pot roast chicken with a lemon and garlic sauce) for my mother. By late afternoon I was ready to flake out but I had to drive to Newport to pick up an engine from Jethro. Then I drove on a bit further to visit ex-member Simon Birch and his wife Christine (they actually honeymooned at the second club rally). It was good to catch up and I can report to all who know him that he is the same as ever, cheerfully mad.

Got home just in time to go out for a quiet two pints with a neighbour.

So, no fun biking, but not a bad weekend all-told.

weekend spent getting home from three days in Paris with the Mrs (10th anniversary). A great time!!
Of bike note: Not many singles although I saw one SRX, one XT350 and the prize, an XT500 in delightful nick. Other than that mostly multis, or small singles 125s and 250s, any number of BMW oilheads and Hornets but the real surprise was the number Triumphs; speed triples and especially Bonnevilles, loads of them. All that said for every bike there was six scooters and the three wheeled ones where particularly in evidence. Glass on Vin rouge at 2PM no problem, cafe - ie coffee the way it ought to be done, spendid food and the occasional Parisienne worthy of note!

Took the Bullet out to college today and the bars are bent after Gospel pass, but whether I change them for something more trial style...well we'll see.

Bad weekend here in sunny Nottingham.At 7.40 on Saturday morning the phone rings,can I come into work,we are very busy.Working for the in-laws can be a disadvantage some times.10.00am the phone rings,it's the wife,she is ill,I have to go home to look after the boy.
On Sunday I go around the families doing the Mothers day bit.Off to the inlaws with flowers,cards and the boy in tow.His cousin is there and they go mental for an hour or so.After I leave apparantly Mother in law rings the wife and complains that I didn't bring the Sunday dinner that they should have had at our house.Then off to my Mothers,no drama there.
Arrive at work today to find that the boy has been sick in the five minutes since I left home so no school for him.A repeat performance follows later so no school tomorrow either,the day when the wife is going for an interview,so it's a day off for me.
Biking stuff,zero not even any spannering.However it is Bottesford Egg Run next weekend that is usually a good run out.

I forgot to add, on Saturday I picked up a Stanley No5 wood plane (long 'jack' plane with wood handles) in perfect nick for £5 and a Bahco 8" adjustable spanner for 50p.

There's a house clearance shop two doors down from my dad's caff and they are always selling off good tools for pennies.

I do like a bargain

Managed to spend a bit of quality time in the garage on Saturday. I recently picked up another exhaust system for the GN250 on ebay for £15    A bit tatty when i picked it up but much better than the rot box that's currently fitted.  It cleaned up ok with a bit of attention from the rotary wire brush and the remains of a can of heat proof paint.

Spent Saturday afternoon trying to remove the VERY rusty exhaust nuts/bolts. They're only M6 so won't take much welly. After much heat, WD40 and Veerrry careful spannering I've removed 3 of the 4.  The last one is proving very stubbon and so a truce was called and the fight will continue at a later date!!

Friday a bit of crazy vehicle swapping (due to mz mot up (awaiting spares) swmbo going to guide camp and the bridge being closed to bikes, including outfits...) saw me back at work with the outfit *and* swmbo's car there, worked fri night + sat then unexpectedly got Sunday off 
Lie in and then a chilled day playing radio, sod doing anything useful I needed the break!!
SWMBO later back than eta  then turns up being driven by friend and clutching sick bowl in v poor way 
Packed her off to bed and chatted to guider friend before cooking tea and more radio play, swmbo still out for the count so we let her sleep. Highlight was then found when I managed to contact a ham in Canada using only a little portable antenna in my back garden  most pleasing!
Monday AM swmbo takes day off but noticeably better. work for me.
Turns out she'd been stressing all weekend over having 20 kids on camp in howling gale/monsoon rain and had managed virtually no sleep as well all weekend. Literally worried sick 
I sometimes wonder if parents of Guiders (and Scouters sometimes) really know what the leaders do/put up with 
Fortunately bags of sleep has cured her (till the next time  ) so all is right again in chateau Smudge 
Now I just have to get the outfit back here as well as the car.... lol

As I'm on the stag do from Thursday it was a case of playing nice and doing house stuff. Bit of drama on Friday with the storm force winds driving water into the bathroom. Went up to my mum and dads and walked back with their long ladders and found nothing wrong with the tiles, so I just patched the felt inside. Did it right as Saturday was worse still in the afternoon. I couldn't face walking uphill with the ladders, so put them on the outfit. Got a few funny looks through town with 6 foot ahead and about 8 behind, but the straps and markers were fine. Local training school who were doing U-turns in my folks street thought it was great  Gave one of their trainees a huge bollocking for doing the turn without ever taking his eyes off the Bonneville though  We could have a possible convert to the darkside there

Soory GC its got me you see, as we rode around the west coast,
the riders were there, the roads seemed all bare,so we rode out humming Diddlely Bump Terrara
Lindy was there, tyres sans air, and Terry turned round.

Lionel and me, we finished our chips and said goodbye to the seaside
Got on the bikes, the Yammie rider said right, oh isn't it a shame to go
Wouldn't it be grand to have cash on demand and to live like this for always
Oh it makes me feel ill, when I think of the job as the wheels go 'round

Hi Kurt, Pat & I went over to Portmeirion (where the TV series The Prisoner was filmed) on Sunday on the DR800, and the weather was sunny, if a little chilly in the wind. Luckily the tide was out, so after touring the Village we walked out along the bay, around the headland and up some steps cut into the rock and into the ornamental wood up behind the Village. It's quite unusual with various trees from around the world, a lake and follies dotted around the place.
ps. The weekend before we spent the Saturday evening in Liverpool with Pat's nephew over on holiday from a place called Harvey, Western Australia......

Hi Kurt, We would love to visit OZ, but to do it justice, I would need a few weeks off work and at the moment it's not possible as I work full time and the holidays I have are used to the max. This year at Easter we are off to South Wales to visit an area where I spent some time as a child. In July we are off to Ireland for a week, in August we are off to France for the summer hols, then Holland in Sept for the Monotreffen......all biking hols, and out every Sunday come rain or shine.....but I draw the line at ice, unlike Simon Morgan who seems to enjoy it......a hero, but we have had a mild winter so I havn't missed any so far this year.
By the way, Pat has two sisters in WA, one in Harvey and the other in Albany, so If we ever come over that will be the first stop.
