Another sidecar thumper in the fold
« on: January 03, 2008, 10:55:53 PM »
My brother has been an all-round good egg this year and so I decided to give him my very nice Wasp sidecar. He had been making little hints about getting a chair for a while and he was happy to take away the neat single seater.

This was collected shortly before christmas and imagine my surprise when he told me that he has already finished fitting it to his partner's XBR500.

The plan is to take it to the Dragon Rally. The trouble is, this will probably be his first big ride on a chair  :o

I have lent him my leading link forks and they should help the handling for a beginner, but it will be laugh.

Cheers

I called over to my brother's today to help him finish off the outfit (I finished a job in his town early so had a spare two hours).

He had fitted the chair once, found it nice to ride, but then worried that it didn't have the desired amount of 'lead' (the distance that the chair wheel is forward of the rear wheel).

After two failed attempts to get it together with more lead he gave in and put it back to how he started. I rode it this evening and it handles a treat.

He is off for an MOT this saturday.

The outfit passed its MOT first time  :)

My brother has been out on it a few times and I think (whisper it) he's getting the bug.
