Suzuki Freewind

I haven't seen much on this site about the poor old Suzuki Freewind.

I have now done about 1,800 miles on mine since I bought it in April this year (that's about twice the mileage I did on my GPZ500 in 12 months).  Needed a new rear disk for it's MOT and has benefitted enormously from a new battery. Seat makes yer bum ache after about an hour and a half but otherwise very comfortable, powerful enough for sensible riding, loads of suspension travel to soak up all those bl**dy potholes.

So far totally reliable, rather ugly but well under-rated bike.

I agree - it's nice and simple and loaded with fun...

I bought my Freewind as a winter hack to save spoiling my V-strom in the road salt, - but -
well, I just fell in love with my little 'Wind (the "Mini-Strom"!) and can't stop riding it!

I've lowered the suspension a little and thrown a new set of Michelins on it, and it just loves exploring the mountain back roads around here (I'm in Snowdonia, in North Wales).  It's just like it was made for this country.  The most "English" - style bike I've ridden since my Red Hunter - really reminds me of it.

The Freewind is dirt cheap to buy, utterly simple, and looks to be pretty bulletproof - and just oddles of fun - would recommend one to anybody....

Glad you like it.

If you ever need any help, etc please feel free to ask.

The one tip I'll share with you straight away is that it can get starved of petrol if you leave it standing for a week or more.  If you set the petrol tap to PRI for a few minutes before you start the bike it seems to fire-up more easily.

cheers
