« on: July 24, 2007, 08:39:28 PM »
Bluddy EBAY!!!.....I went to all sorts of trouble to describe #4 properly, with 4 nice piccies, and put it in the category suggested by the selling routine.....updated the description a couple of times to correct typo's etc..it went live sunday midnight...loads of interest.....over 100 viewers by this afternoon, 26 watchers, and bidding up to £880 with 5 days to go...
effin EBAY pulled it !! at 4 today.......why???  aparently incorrect category ??? the category suggested by the poxy selling system!!.....and because they cancelled it i cant get the listing back to relist it!!! AND............a message telling me that I could have my 'prevelidges' removed if i continued to abuse the system!!!

I AM absolutely incandescent.........(i think) I daren't say here what i think about the pillocks from the other side of the atlantic.....
If only there was an alternative

sorry.....had to tell someone...

well Rog,  as you know, using the Ebay 'wizard' now, once you enter the headline description, you are then presented with
suggested category, which i accepted (as far as i can remember....motors/motorcycles/vehicles-parts/accessories-yamaha

well, ok...it's not 'parts/accessories'  but thats what was suggested.

I have now got a reply from the Ebay police...... 'sorry to hear of your problems...no you can't get your listing back.....in future save it ....... cuntinued listing in the wrong category could result in your account being closed!, and if you list in the wrong category it will be removed'... friendly huh?

having asked what category they think it should be in ............no reply!!

the nicest thing i can say about them is...............TW*TS!!!!!!!!!!!

A bit harsh that, innit! Strange though, I'm always finding loads of crap on Ebay in the wrong categories so lots of people seem to get away with it. Looks like the Ebay police have got their eye on you!

Their response could and should have been more professional - but I guess it is a standard reply. It seems that the Ebay wizard selected the Yamaha parts category not the Yamaha bikes category.  Unlike listing it in Porcelain Collectibles where the listing price paid to Ebay would be the same, listing it in parts rather than in bikes produces a smaller sum to Ebay - so it may well be just about money and money alone.

Auction of parts - Insertion fee dependent of initial price or reserve 15 to £2  sale fee 5.25%of the initial £29.99 (£1.57), plus 3.25% of the initial £30.00 - £599.99 (£18.53), plus 1.75% of the remaining closing value balance

So if No4 went in at a starting price of £100 and sold for £1000 £2 + £1.75 + £18.53 + £7 Total for No4 £29.28

Auction of Bike - Insertion fee £8, sale fee for up to £16999 £17 - Total for No4 £25

So it may be that they did not like it in the parts listing as it would cost you more.. ummmmm

Of course this is no help at all.

Or is it something about the caveat emeptor  being different on whole vehicle to parts?
