Home, washed and unpacked from Glastonbury at last. For those who saw the pictures on telly let me tell you it was far worse than it looked. Despite rain, mud and 10 hour wait to get out, it was by far the best event Mrs Squirrel and I have ever been to. Too many great acts to tell about or see come to think of it, but Dame Shirley was the best of the ones we saw by a country mile. Didn't go to the Who show, but went to the jazz stage instead to watch 'Fat Freddie Drop' and hang out with serious weirdo's. Excellent!! :-)

Sorry to have missed the rally Smudge (I did say I wasn't coming) and even sorrier to here some let you down after all your hard work :-( but I felt I was with you in spirit as I too was covered in crap, living in a tent and half p155ed most of the time :-)

Roll on next year.

Last time I went to Glastonbury was 1999 Bob Dylan was there all I I could see was this  wizened little man droning and playing so I moved to see Rolf Harris much more entertaining. Doctor John was also playing that weekend it brought back a lot old memories.

One, and only, big open-air concert I ever went to was Knebworth 1980. Headlining band was the Beach Boys, along with Santana, Devo, The Blues Band, but they may or may not have been there. We travelled from Cardiff in a converted ex-GPO Luton van (no windows, three sofas tied in the back, cobbled together intercom with those in the front), and one of the guys, Geoff Lewis, worked for Welsh Brewers so he cashed in all his 'dreymans coupons' to have the Luton well down on its axels with beer. Needless to say we were pi**ed when we got there and remained so for the whole event! Didn't really see the need to bother again after that, but each to their own.

Glad to hear that you survived Pat, and hopefully all that mud has made your skin oh so soft.....

1985, Cornwall, Elephant Fayre. Very muddy, quite violent (although the Peace Convoy had been slapped with an injunction banning then from the county). Saw New Model Army, Killing Joke and sundry other acts, but had the best time in the reggae tent out of my tree.

And no, I don't know why I wore a captains hat. The other galling thing about this picture is that those belstaff Trailmaster trousers (purchased from my mum's Littlewoods catalogue) had a 30" waist!

Personally I think the hat and the hair makes you look rather like a chirpy version of that SS officer in the great escape:-p Now what was that actors name - you know the one that was just busting to torture Anthony Quayle - no doubt for his dreadful acting, although Gregory Peck's hamming it up at the end made them all look good. A great film nonetheless - doesn't excuse the hat mind!
