Oh yes, I remember it very well. 13yrs old at the time and me and my best mate Adrian Bell going down to our local park every day during our six week school holidays. The park had an open air Lido at the time
Great memories 👍

Felling dead and dying English elms full of bark beetles and then having to try peel the butts and burn wet elm bark in the heat! Mountains of tyres and sump oil to get it going and huge bonfires to try and get rid of the beetles, so that they wouldn't fly to non-infected trees.

Then over to the Isle of Man, a different world. Warm, but no blistering heat, rain and altogether a much better climate, swimming off Peel beach and the MGP, with the Manx 2 Day Trial. Following the latter on the Ducati 450, with clip-ons and the Ford Escort ignition set-up, on full advance!  ::) Must of been bonkers!  ;) Still am!  ;D

Good health, Bill
