Transfers/decals for XBR needed.
« on: July 14, 2021, 09:14:18 AM »
Hello All
Has anyone bought transfers for bikes recently?
I need some for the XBR I want to sell but can only find a couple of places listing them.
If anyone has used a company that they would recommend I'd be grateful to know.
Thank you
Richard.

Hi Richard, hope you have dried out from your soaking coming back from Stafford?
Regarding your question, the chap who painted my tanks etc, usually gets his decals etc printed by someone as long as he has something to work from. Would that be of any use to you?
Regards Ian 👍

Aye Richard,

My first suggestion would be to contact 'David Silver Honda Spares': David_Silver_XBR_spares  I cannot see anything in their list, but would suggest a telephone call or email could bear fruit.

Alternatively, I would suggest that you contact 'Classic Transfers': Classic_Transfers  Whilst they do not show a stock of transfers for Honda models, I know that they create their transfers in house from their own artwork, that is excellent. The tank transfers on my Ducati are water-slide transfers from them.

Thirdly, if you have a good example of the transfer that you want to reproduce, take it along to a vehicle wrapping company. If they are worth their salt, they will be able to scan your example, clean up the image and then be able to print off as many copies as you require of the transfer in vinyl that you can then get applied after painting the tank and then over lacquered to protect it and the paint.

If you have problems locating a good vehicle wrapper, I could take your image to my local wrapper. They produce film wraps for Stagecoach buses, to one off vinyl transfers for my Ducati side covers, from my sketch layout, while I waited! ;) They then printed off 6 copies for £24 and kept the image on their database in case I needed more copies.

I hope this helps, Bill

Aye Richard,

I think that this is the supplier that Tommy is refering to. If not I am sure he will tell me!  :-[  This is a link to their XBR transfers shop on eBay: Classic_Motorcycle_Decals_XBR500

Cheers, Bill

Thank you all for your quick helpful replies.
Yes Ian, I finally got all my gear dry. It took a couple of days though. I do think that was the worst rain I've ridden through although I rather enjoyed it and the trusty XBR didn't miss a beat.
I think your idea sounds the most hopeful Bill as the people suggested by you, Tommy are a bit pricy for this project although I might try them for a future one.
I will ask my friend if he can help me or can recommend a vinyl cutter and try them. If I get no joy I would be grateful if you could approach your vehicle wrapper for me.
I will also contact David Silver and Classic Motorcycle Decals.
Thanks again to all of you.
Cheers
Richard.
