One for Enfield owners

I have had The Mighty Enfield all apart for a clean up and to sort a few things. Whatever you do NEVER take the engine out of the frame without first making some sort of jig to hold the frame in place.

It has just taken me over an hour to juggle the motor and frame back together because when you remove the motor which is a stressed member the whole frame reverts to how the Indians made it. They obviously have no understanding of things lining up. The rear frame tubes were half an inch out of alignment, the front down tube has never seen vertical and the bottom right hand frame rail kicks out enough to bend the bottom engine stud by about a quarter of an inch. Add to this that both rear engine plates were stamped R for right and would only fit one way. In a word crap.

I bet the Japanese manufacturers take these bikes apart just to give their workers a morale boost, "look at shit that rest of world produces. Ha ha ha".

I still love it though.

I helped take the engine out of Steffans Bullet once.  I think thats why he sold it.  A massive PITA with bits sticking out everywhere.  Compared to the MZs we were running at the time it was a nightmare.
Note to Self: Shiney side goes UP.
