Hi Andy

I took the plunge and bought the Hitchcocks Mikuni conversion for my Enfield. Wow what a difference, not earth shattering but IMHO well worth it. The motor feels smoother throughout the rev range and performance between 50 and 70 is totally transformed. I can now cruise at 60 - 65 easily and the bike is fast enough to keep up with A road traffic.

The kit is well made and jetted just right (though the kit also contains two each of alternative pilot and main jets) for my bike which like yours has a Hitchcocks Goldie silencer.

Only downside today when I thrashed the nuts off mine to Cadwell Park and back was the fuel consumption dropped to 60mpg.

I love the bike even more now.

Presumably there will be some kind of magic black box to plug in to take care of advance/retard?

Be interesting to know if they do one for the euro 4 bikes.

WTF would you replace a closed loop electronic system with no moving parts and a built in diagnostic system that delivers tens of MPG more and cruises at 65-70 with a tin can of half swollen O-rings you need to tell your insurance about? I assume you'll be fitting points, drum brakes and acetylene lamps while you at it?

Now there's an idea! Let's be honest if I were interested in the things you list as a virtue I wouldn't have bought an Enfield in the first place! I always intended to replace the EFI, why? Cos most of the places I go would see me stranded if the fuel pump packed up, and they do so now I have eliminated that risk. Anyway it's my bike so if I choose to replace the wheels with blancmange that's my business.

There's a little resistor thing that plugs in to where the injector was connected other than that and disconnecting all of the TPS etc there's no electronic bits.

Whether jets n floats floats yer  boats or silicone chips, main thing is enjoying the bike.

I'm with Ian. I won't be going carb during the thick of the warranty period, but it's something I'm into for later.

Lookin' good Andrew. As i think i told you - i really enjoyed my 2009 early model EFI and i spent a small fortune at Hitchcocks on various upgrades. In many ways i wish i still had that bike which i swapped for a... Kawasaki W650 which looks even more like a Meriden Bonneville but without the "character".

A bonny night Andrew. A bit different up here, it is still persisting and has done for the past 36+ hours!   We are also in the drier east, whilst west of here the earth has moved in several places in liquid form and with 9" precipitation in 36 hours you can understand why.

Will be out and about later today, before the return of the autumnal monsoon on Thursday!
