Not a Thumper but......
« on: April 23, 2018, 06:03:04 PM »
At long last, myself and Rossco500, have finally finished this beast. Bought with no paperwork, but a lot of the the expensive work already done, we still managed to do a whole load more work and spend loads more money!
Bike is a 1953 Matchless G9 Clubman, 500cc twin, and is now on its original Oxford City registration with matching frame, engine, and gearbox numbers.
The journey has had its ups and downs, but also been a great learning experience  ;)
The bike is not yet for sale as we want to prove her first, and put on a few miles, but ain't she a beaut  :)

Is that petrol I can see dripping from the tap?? Lol.

Looks great and looking forward to "running in" the beastie hopefully without too many teething problems.

Fantastic job guys. Surely you're going to ride round on it for a month or two before moving it on? I'm not sure if I could bear to part with it...

That looks great Tim and Tony. I don't think I could part with such a lovely old bike but then I've not owned a 50s British bike for 30 years so maybe the reality would bite me.

Whatever, I hope you both enjoy the fruits of your hard labour and well done on a great job.

Neither of us has the space or the interest, plus Tony has his 1957 AJS 350, and I have the 1953 RE J2. Though I hope he enjoys running her in, as we wouldnt sell her unless we know shes totally sound. Asking price will probably be £4250, as she really is a great example of a G9/Model 20.
