Carole Nash winter show Newark

Hi all

Went over on the SLR to the show in Newark, Notts today and had a lovely clear, winter-day ride. The roads weren't frosty and the air temp was okay.

Had a great chat with the Sunbeam S7/S8 blokes who seem like a great bunch and very competent engineers by the look of things. Their stand was all about getting out and touring the world on their Sunbeams and some of their tales have been told on the Real Classic website. What really boggled my mind was the S8 (I think) with an A10 engine turned through 90 degrees and driving through a Sunbeam gearbox to a Ural transmission! Think about it for a while and then go WOW!

What I didn't enjoy so much was paying two quid for half a cup of lukewarm tea or seeing bits of old tat with ridiculous asking prices just because they are old and British.

Still, lovely ride out and some great inspiration to sort some more touring out this year.

I too was at a winter bike show over the weekend, which turned out to be very worthwhile. NI is a small place but over the winter we have a number of small church hall size shows and jumbles. In a way they are more social occasions were we meet up with friends old and new. Anyway, I digress.
The one just passed was the Ards Show, and I put my wee BSA C12 in the show to help support it. At the same time I thought I may as well take a table to try and get rid of some of the clutter I no longer need nor want. I really enjoyed the whole experience, met loads of great people, and came home last night with over £450 I didn't have when I went on Friday eve  :)
So, if you've stuff to get rid of, I highly recommend it.
