IT LIVES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: July 31, 2014, 05:58:32 PM »
After nearly 3 years in the garage and having spent the last year trying to get the damn thing started.....

THE XBR ROARS AGAIN!!!!!!.......well coughed, farted and popped actually.

Having spent ages checking the electrics, I had a think and remembered the only thing I'd done since laying it up was adjust a couple of valve setting so, although they seemed OK, I did them again. Success!!! (must've got 'em wrong somehow)

So now I just need to sort out

Front brake light
Rev counter showing twice engine speed
MOT
Tax

and it's sorted!!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I,ll second that, especially the laphroig,  bottoms up. I,ve just rescued another XBR from going to that great big breakers yard in the sky. Looks like I better pour myself another one o them whiskeys. Hic

It was never really a case of a rescue - I've owned it for a good while and I'd put it in the garage overwinter back in 2011 and it's been there every since. I got it out last year but the bugger wouldn't start but now I've got that sorted (hopefully).  It just needs a few very minor bits doing and a new battery ( it won't turn the starter) and a oil/filter change and it's ready for MOT and good to go.

Sadly it may well be up for sale soon as lack of funds and family commitments mean it'll probably not get used much and would hate to see it lingering in the garage. :(
