Rev counter

Hi, Seumas back again, forgot to mention that the rev counter doesn't work either, doesn't look like a mechanical linkage. Is this a common problem with the XBR? What does one do to check / repair this.
Thanks again
Seumas

The rev counter is triggered from the CDI unit - green/white wire I think. Mine has sometimes read at double actual revs - normal tickover has the rev counter shown 3000 revs, 60mph shows in the redline. This seems to happen more often after it's been sitting in the garage for sometime - often over winter so it may be a damp problem somewhere. I disconnected the green/white (?) wire on the back of the Tacho so it didn't work as the needle in the redline all the time was bloody annoying! When it dries out it works ok.
Sorry I can't be more helpful.
