MOT and Insurance
« on: July 06, 2012, 03:00:14 PM »
Wish me luck, I have my MOT on Friday 13th and my new insurance starts. I have switched from swinton to bikesure (Adrian Flux £264) per year, with all my modifications registered, so everything will be above board. I shall now sweat and worry for the next week. Im sure it will be fine, but I always have it in the back of my mind that I have missed something.
On another note, I have just go my new engine for a jet bike that I will be building over the next 2 - 3 years, a Rolls Royce palouste mk104 gas turbine. See Photo

Thanks :) As for the jet bike.........why not. I built a jet bike some years ago (there are some videos on youtube) that I had to sell as Suzanne became seriously ill, I have always regretted selling it, and thought that if I ever got the opportunity of getting hold of a gas turbine again I would build a bigger and more improved version.
Running it somewhere is the main problem that I had encountered before. Santa pod is the easiest to use but there are a few runways around that can be hired

Is a gas turbine by definition not single cylinder? The air fuel mix remains in a single volume, albiet at differing pressures does it not? There are no valves to separate it only partially obscuring elements such as the turbine blades? Suck, Squeeze, Bang Blow is definately happening, just separated by distance not time.

Retires to a safe distance.......  ::) :-X ;D ;D

If its a single im not sure how you would measure the cubic capacity though, static combustion chamber volume or combustion chamber volume over a measured time  and airflow ????

Here is the engine in a bike. I got my turbine from Richard Brown, it was to be used as spare parts for this bike.

Deffo not a thumper!

Single cylinder is only part of the definition, otherwise we would be awash with stinkwheels. Apart from 4 stroke cycle, a piston to make the 'thump, thump, thump' noise would be nice!  ;D

There Pat goes again, dissing the MZs.

I'm going to have to swing for him yet again with my walking stick.

Note to Self: Shiney side goes UP.

Hooray !! it passed its mot. now all I need is weeks of warm weather and gentle breezes, but I cant see that happening any time soon :(
My bike must be very fast now, as I asked the tester where the nearest petrol station was, he directed me to one about a mile down the road, after I left the mot station I went to the local garage and the attendant came out and asked me if I would like 4 star or unleaded, I thought bloody hell Iv made it to the 70's I must have broken the light barrier and traveled in time. If anyone is interested 4 star is £2.47 a liter, apparently he does a lot business with classic car and motorcycle owners and fuels the cars at Beaulieu

£2.47 a litre!
At that price I'd want to drink it rather than stick it in the bike.

Well done on the MOT
