Suzuki DR350 Enduro - MOT test re lights
« on: May 23, 2011, 04:33:26 PM »
I have just purchased a 1996 Suzuki DR350 Enduro. This bike comes with direct lighting which only powers an always one front dipped beam and rear light.I have a number of old MOT's and a brand new which was obtained by the seller. There is no dip switch and never appears to have been one. My local MOT station who I am on good terms with state that next year when it comes up for renewal it will not pass as it must have a dip and main beam. Is this correct; do other 350 enduro owners have the same problem?

Thanks

Ron

dont need lights for an mot. get a daylight only ticket. if you have em, they need to comply with regs and work, but you dont actually need to have em. you also dont need to have em powered by the bike, nothing wrong in having a set powered by a battery thats not charged by the bike, and with modern led lamps they could last a long while between charges!

If you have lights they have to conform to the MOT regs. This bike had lights when it was tested ! I have had trials bikes with "daylight MOT's" where no lights were present and you do not even need a brake light. However when you get such an MOT they always show no lights on an advisory notice. I have the advisory notice which has 2 advisories on it but nothing about lights.
Need some input from DR owners

This is the extract from the MOT manual on headlights. http://www.ukmot.com/bike/1-2.asp The bulbs were always blowing on my DT175 so for the MOT I just taped up the lens with gaffer tape.
