Last question , CAN you get the cambox off the XBR while engine is in the frame ?
It seems you cant when the same engine is fitted in the XL600.... ???

I think i'll drop the engine out of mine even if you can , when its time for the chain it'll give chance to clean n touch up the bits the sun don't shine on . And it will give me the excuse to change the colour of the faring !

Yup, you can get the cam box and the head off with the engine still in frame. Thanks for the heads-up about the XL600 though, I was wondering whether to pull my engine out or not. Looks like that's decided it for me.

Try Dave Silvers for the cam chain. He hasn't got them listed for your year but it's worth phoning, might well be cheaper than Wemoto.

Cheers,
Dave B

I read the NBDSC link last night , a TOTAL XL600 RFVC rebuild & thats where I found out about the XL frame / cam box problem !
My wholesaler is getting me a price on DID camchains & if cheap enough , i'll be adding them to my Ebay shop !

Read on another forum , that YOU CAN remove the rocker box on the XL600, but you need to remove the carb 1st !!!, as the rocker box comes off in the space where the carb was !

Similiar to Pats XT600, the rocker box can be moved backwards and down the back of teh engine to remove it.
