Aye leedrz,

So far as I am aware SRX 600 European and SRX 400 master cylinders will all fit. You might also care to have a look at this site: SRX600 as there is a compatability list in it.

Are the cylinders that 'cream crackered' that a refurbishment kit won't do the job? Try Weemoto here: Weemoto. Alternatively you friendly Yamaha dealer could probably supply all you require, part numbers in the lists on the SRX url previously given.

SteveH, SteveL and Andy230 along with many others may add to this thread and don't be surprised if the thread 'meanders'! ::)

All the best, Bill.

I had the same problem, the rear master cylinder was corroded in the bore same with the front. I used the rear master cylinder from a FZR1000 (I had to buy a new seal kit from Yamaha and it ain't cheap). The push rods are different and so is the linkage(it's a bit longer on the SRX). For the front I used a FZR400 and this it an identical master cylinder.
Pretty much any Yamaha from the mid 80's will have the same master cylinders, the only real difference is the length of the rear's push rod. Hope this is useful.

The m/cyl bore size is marked on the side of the cylinder. If you are not too worried about aesthetics then anything with the same size will work for the front.
Other Yamaha 80's alternatives would be 350 YPVS, XJ etc. Problem is they will be as old as yours and as such probably equally knackered.

Have you tried yamaha fazer 1000 pre 2006 as they have the fitting hole for mirrors. Probably several other yam bikes may fit.

you can get a refurb kit for the rear m/cyl....can't remember the part # but it wasn't too pricey and it did---still does the job for me
I don't think you can get the front m/cyl from yamaha now, i got a very good replacement only problem with it is that it doesn't have the threaded (l/h i think) hole for the mirror....not a problem for me as i use bar end mirrors.

If you arent too bothered about authenticity, you could have a look at my "rebuild" (All shiny and new) in project progress. I used a master cylinder off a Hinkley Bonneville with an Yamaha R6 reservoir (Most modern reservoirs will fit with a home made bracket) and a Suzuki lever...all went to gether with no mods to any of them. I actually made a clamp to allow me to fit a mirror but as I didnt have a LH tap (M10 x 1.25 pitch) I put a RH thread in it. This is not a problem as there are loads of mirrors that will fit anyway. Im enclosing a photo or 2 just to show you can do virtually whatever you want to do if you have the time, inclination  or skills (or know someone who has). Get in touch if you need/want more info.

Regards

Ian :)
