I got the XBR 500 in June 2009. It's lovely, spoked wheel job, but being too cowardly in the bad weather of winter I've done a HUGE 23 miles on it so far
I realised it's M.O.T. ran out last weekend and had worries that the Dunstall type siolen ers would be too loud. Had to take my cojones in hand and took it to the M.O.T. man. 
He reappears 20 or so minutes later and says "It's a Lovely Example of a Lovely bike and it hath verily passed the required examination".  I have to admit to feeling very pleased and took it for a quick 40 mile shakedown to celebrate with coffee. Happy little Fatty am I

Hi Dogbad.Got my xbr500 May 2009,Since done nearly 5000 miles in one year . BUT mine just failed MOT on the swing arm With the help of a couple of spacers to take up the play have now passed  . The MOT guy used to have an xbr and kinda reminisced as we shone a dim torch over the bike . Happy riding-long live summer.
