Not the best of weekends starting as it did by a phone call at 9pm Friday telling me my Dad was in hospital having had a stroke! A dash to the Royal Gwent and an evening sat in the resuss unit till 1:30am while we wait to find out whats happening and whether they can find Dad a bed. Luckily they got him to hospital very quickly (well done Mum) and the damage looks minimal, but worrying none the less.

Managed to watch the Lions match on Saturday round my mates house where he put on a fantastic pre-match BBQ. Got a call from Dad just before kick off to say he was home and (relatively) OK so celebrated with a cider of 4.

Sunday morning saw me tinkering with Lucy (the VX not some bit of fluff on the side) and changing the indicators for some mini ones I had lieing about. Just couldn't stand the big, long chrome things fitted by Suzuki any longer. When I'm rich, I'll swap them again for something better. Sunday afternoon was spent visiting Dad and finding out about the next stage of his treatment/aftercare. On the way home I popped into RobG's to collect some new handlebars for Lucy (many thanks matey) Dead jealous of his shed and now prompted to sort mine out (again!) properly. Last action of the weekend was an evening meal out with my family. After all the excitement to sit quietly and have a good meal and a calm pint was just what I needed.

Biking activity this weekend restricted to fettling #4 srx prior to new owner collecting it on monday, collected last few bits needed to put right the damage caused by Stena ferries, fitted them, oil change, bit of spit and polish and we have SRX to go.....was thinking of doing BSB as it was just down the road AND fathers day.....but stroppy kids said i had to go to their BBQ, so that was that....
F1?? pah!.....i heard someone (probably Martin Brundle....who I note, travelled from his home up the road from me, to silverstone on his BIKE....'wonderful ride' he said) say this was an 'exciting' and 'interesting' race....yeah? as all the activity of any interest these days takes place in the pits, just nip along to tesco's filling station and watch for 2 hours, more exciting by far...and its free.
Monday update...Andy from hampshire has collected #4 (he has signed up to the TC)....saw him down to thetford and the A11.....i got the thumbs up and off he went.....hopefully safe home by now...

Aye Pat,

Not good, but pleased he's back home and recuperating. All the best, please.

Plan B is already in action, heading for Scotland tomorrow. its one of those places that southerers like me always want to visit but rarely end up going. After seeing recent photos here of a thumper riders weekend route i decided scotland was to be my next holiday. Should be cheaper than Europe, although the language barrier remains ;)

Hmmm can't help with the language barrier (excepting translation services ;) ) but at least the exchange rate is easy to calculate  :D
Showery here of late but we're getting breaks of sunshine and there are a lot of storming roads to ride. Hope you have a good run  ;D

Just been speaking with Brother-in-Law on the Black Isle, dry there but looks a bit dreek to the NW. Occaisional heavy showers here , but nothing serious. Chill out and bring the Avon 'Skin-so-Soft' for the wee beasties and pitch camp in a breezy spot and you'll be fine. Toodle pip, Bill.
