Stafford - credit where it's due.

I don't know the result of the judging but visiting yesterday I thought the stand was a blinder and as usual the thumpeteers were out there talking to the punters not sitting huddled arguing about the provinance of a particular fastener as most of the other clubs appeared to be.

Hats off boys - congratulations!!

Steffan
Amazing coffee too, I had the shakes for an hour afterwards or was that all the restored Nortons, Guzzis, Morinis etc...

Stafford - "A very big credit for us!"

Thanks for the support Steffan, and sorry that I missed you! We found out this morning that we had won two awards, both with cash! Firstly 'Best Mixed Make Club' (£100) and then, ta-dah, for coming second in the 'Best Club Stand' (£500). All-in-all not a bad weekends work and a booze-up as well.

Thanks to all the club members who supported us over the weekend, especially SteveD who kept the 'home fires burning' with food and drinks 24/7.

A very good effort and an even better laugh........

See you all soon
BB

Top weekend :-) one of our best in my opinion. Nearly made 'last man standing' on Saturday night, but alas SteveD and Simon Morgan held out to take that honour :-( Ride home was a little moist to say the least, but worth it. Cheers guys for the laugh, big thanks to SteveD for marque, catering, beer etc (you never did tell us what we owed you, fool) He only let us down by NOT falling over in a muddy puddle again this year.
Big thanks to everyone again, Pat.

As for the turf (which weighed a ton) I would like to see the look on the driver's face when they come to take the skip away :-)

Steve D - how much do we each owe you for food and beer? Sorry I didn't sort it out yesterday.

My weekend started badly, I was ready to go at 9.30 on Friday morning but the postie didn't turn up with my ticket from Steffan. I eventually found my postman at 11.45 three streets away. With ticket in hand I belted up to teh show and the stand erection was well underway when I got there. I got into erecting the opposite side of the stand (pictures, trestle tables etc.) and then we all retired for a good night's drink and snooze.

I was sleeping in my wife's car and awoke early Saturday refreshed and eager to get going. I clambered out of the boot, slammed it and realised I'd locked myself out of the car... and then I noticed the flat tyre too. Ho hum. One smashed quarterlight later and all was well.

The stand (a camping theme) looked superb and Boyd and co had done a great job in it. People kept doign double takes at teh roaring camp fire and numerous parents pulled their children away from the 'flames' :-)

It was good fun chatting to the TC attendees, whether day visitors or overnight (blagging) guests.

The drive back down the M6 last night was bloody awful, my average speed for the first 60 miles must have been less than 20mph. However, wifey was pleased to see me and I have actually cleared the hallway of show detritus (including one of your extension leads and a tent peg Boyd) so all is back to normal and all I've got to do is go to the building society to pay in our winnings.

A good weekend, thanks all.

Ah my first post on the site!

Thought i would drop a quick line to say thank you to Graham and the lads I met at Stafford for making me so wlecome then fleecing me for a years memebership and an XBR T shirt!

I have been lurking in the background browsing the site for some time and decided to take the plunge and join at Stafford, must have been soemthing in that coffee Graham?

I purchased my XBR500 in May realising a long held desire / ambition - sounds bloody pathetic really you would have though I had greater aspirations but no!

The XBR is getting a rebuild / make over in the coming months so may be off the road until next spring. In the coming months I will be asking lots of questions which hopefully the great collective can answer.

Good to be on board, really looking forward to joining in the banter and ride outs / rallys etc.

All the best Andy (aka xbruby)
