Ah my first post on the site!
Thought i would drop a quick line to say thank you to Graham and the lads I met at Stafford for making me so wlecome then fleecing me for a years memebership and an XBR T shirt!
I have been lurking in the background browsing the site for some time and decided to take the plunge and join at Stafford, must have been soemthing in that coffee Graham?
I purchased my XBR500 in May realising a long held desire / ambition - sounds bloody pathetic really you would have though I had greater aspirations but no!
The XBR is getting a rebuild / make over in the coming months so may be off the road until next spring. In the coming months I will be asking lots of questions which hopefully the great collective can answer.
Good to be on board, really looking forward to joining in the banter and ride outs / rallys etc.
All the best Andy (aka xbruby)
As for the turf (which weighed a ton) I would like to see the look on the driver's face when they come to take the skip away :-)
Steve D - how much do we each owe you for food and beer? Sorry I didn't sort it out yesterday.
My weekend started badly, I was ready to go at 9.30 on Friday morning but the postie didn't turn up with my ticket from Steffan. I eventually found my postman at 11.45 three streets away. With ticket in hand I belted up to teh show and the stand erection was well underway when I got there. I got into erecting the opposite side of the stand (pictures, trestle tables etc.) and then we all retired for a good night's drink and snooze.
I was sleeping in my wife's car and awoke early Saturday refreshed and eager to get going. I clambered out of the boot, slammed it and realised I'd locked myself out of the car... and then I noticed the flat tyre too. Ho hum. One smashed quarterlight later and all was well.
The stand (a camping theme) looked superb and Boyd and co had done a great job in it. People kept doign double takes at teh roaring camp fire and numerous parents pulled their children away from the 'flames' :-)
It was good fun chatting to the TC attendees, whether day visitors or overnight (blagging) guests.
The drive back down the M6 last night was bloody awful, my average speed for the first 60 miles must have been less than 20mph. However, wifey was pleased to see me and I have actually cleared the hallway of show detritus (including one of your extension leads and a tent peg Boyd) so all is back to normal and all I've got to do is go to the building society to pay in our winnings.
A good weekend, thanks all.
GC
