Ebay woes

As if to rub in the fact that you can't even give away broken Land Rover gearboxes, mine has just finished its auction with no takers, even with a start price of 99p  :(

A local Landy spares place will take in old gearboxes for £40, but they recently bought 15 as a job lot so they are not in the market for any more for months. Fed up of bashing my shins on my dead gearbox as I walk across the garage every morning and evening, I thought I'd just offer it on the 'Bay for as little as possible... and yet the bloody thing is still sat there with no takers.

Off to the scrap man next I think.

Nah Kurt, you're having a "senior moment" there, that's the dead 2 1/4 petrol engine I've got lying in my garage that you're thinking of!
The gearbox has a alloy casing and would probably only hold a 30 footer tops  ;)

Large novelty paperweight with famous brand logo  ???

GC, why not make the gearbox a competition prize for the best e-bay title we can come up with? 10p a go, winner collects their prize from your garage floor  ;)

Please note the above is not an entry in the competition, only an example  ;D

Hmmm your are right Smudge,  I must have been thinking about the Rangie box. I could lift and carry the old 2 1/4 box after removal of the transfer case.

Maybe GC could stick a small pipe in it and try for a garden fountain. The alloy would be able to handle the ice better in winter than the brittle plastics.

I know! I know! I know!, Strip out all the insides, paint it a variety of brown and khaki stripes and use it as a Snail Mail box. He could even use a couple of broken axles as antenna. A fitting end for in tribute to the attainable speeds of the original 88. GC could and would probably get away with advertising it in the "ARTY " section
