Jen bent her car key at work yesterday - so being a member of the RAC she rings them up. Despite having the full english breakfast in bed served by a dusky virgin spec RAC membership - seems they do not cover bent keys. Would give her a number for a locksmith and would tow the car a max of 10 miles. She rang said locksmiths who all wanted something like £250 to go to her work and fix the problem - all telling her that even if the key is only a little bent it will not work etc. So muggins here thinks that is not right and drives the 35 odd miles with a hammer, a couple of files and a block of steel. less than 3 mins after being handed the key the engine was up and running.
So whilst I am on promises that I could only dream about before - what planet are the RAC on? Would have cost them loads to tow her to a garage to get it fixed - could have hit it with a hammer themselves.
Thinking about it GC is just up the road - maybe he could have popped round and hit it for her - mind I do not think I would approve of him being paid in the manner etc.
