Saved by fate?
« on: September 14, 2021, 06:28:42 AM »
Yesterday I went on the Mighty Midget to my favourite bakery in order to buy a pasty for my tea. I had to wait in the queue behind a very indecisive old bloke who took ages to make his selection. When I left I headed off down the country lane that takes me home and has a sharp right-left uphill s bend after about 200 yards. As I approached the right hander a car came hurtling down the hill totally out of control and with brakes locked up, shot across in front of me and barely avoided going into the field at the bottom of the hill. Young lad, completely misjudged the speed he was trying to take the bend at. He drove off at some speed when he had regained control.

Had the old boy in front of me paid quicker I would have been a bit further along that road right in a position to be wiped up by that car!

Fate? God? Who knows, but it clearly wasn't my day to check out.

Exactly what the poo leece officer who dealt with my accident said to me Ian. The odds of it unfolding the way it did were a million to one but it still did (unfortunately) unfold that way. Me being on the receiving end 😢🤕... his words to me at the time were “if you’d decided to buy a lottery ticket the previous night, you’d now be a millionaire. However you decided to go for a ride on the Sunday morning instead” .. it’s all simply odds. 99% of the time the odds are stacked in your (ones) favour.
Still, sounds like you had a lucky escape mate, thankfully. 👍👍
Keep riding safe ... cheers. Michael
