Aye Tuoppo,

'Hondamichael' has one of these and he'll tell you chapter and verse. Look through on a search for his postings. You'll also see that he wasn't to chuffed with Honda spare parts service!!!!! It seems that some of the Chinese alternative 230cc singles maybe worth a look if spares and cheapness are important to you.

the honda cbf 250 isn`t to bad as a bike ,but its well overpriced for £ 3399,  parts are not easy to get if you live outside south america , honda needed two weeks to get a new head for mine after it startet not to idle any more at under 10000 miles common problem? i dont know my dealer sold about 10 and 5 of them had the same problem after around 4000 miles
all done under warranty ,the best is the fuel consumption at around + - 100mpg , topspeed is between 75-80mph , on a good day on a german motorway i had her at over 90mph once , also rust is a big issue if you dont have a heatet garage she will rott away faster then you can clean her she doenst like the sea nearby
but if you get one look at mercado libre (powered by ebay) brasil or argentina  and look there for parts for the cbx 250 twister , thats how she`s called in south america , also have a look at bikepics .com for both models cbx250 and cbf 250
and you will find out in europe you get basically no accesoires, but in south america you get everything from different bellypans over different exhaust even under seat ones , half fairings full fairings,bore up kits to near 300cc  and and and list is endless if you know someone who speaks potugues and who can get the parts from brasil they are cheaper as chips there

 cost rs 600 that are about £150 !!! for a brand new full fairing !

thats for about £80 for a brand new oval exhaust  i think they offer somewhere a complete stainless steal one for about £110
if you know someone who travels  to brasil very often tell me ,otherwise these parts will never come to our shores these guys there dont ship to uk or dont understand a word english

a btw  dont let my post put you of the cbf250 its a very comfy bike for touring and it will eat miles  as proven on various trips to germany usually i d a over night trip to my parents ~600miles in 12 hours incl ferry and italy ,south france  only remember also the tank seems never to get dry ,after 250 miles you should look out for a fuel station because there is only a half gallon left now before you have to switch on reserve :-) as i had to find out on a german motorway if you do just under  90mph the fuel consumption gets worth and drops to about 90mpg
but you can have the opposite on a french  route national  in the provance i got her up to 116mpg at  ~55mph
also its a very rare bike did only see one other and that was in the garage for a service never seen one in flesh on the road
i simply didnt expect a worn head after under 10000 miles , not on a honda which have been known for bullet proof engines and reliability , also i did not expect that they get theire parts from belgium and they scrapped the 24 hour service wich didn`t work for a 48 hour service wich doesnt work either :-)ok normal parts like chains and tyres and speedocables you get fast the next day rear tyre should last about 8000-9000 miles and the front ~12000 so it is quiet cheap to run also insurance  2 year no claim fully comp 38 years old £150 insurance and 30 pound road tax
ok service cost just under £200 every 4000 miles at a honda garage and they even clean the bike to near new condition :-)

Thank you all for your answers. I have my own XBR but my girlfriend is thinking about buying a motorcycle. This would be hers first bike so I think that a light weight bike would be best. She also likes looks of the bike. The problem is that honda has never sell these bikes in Finland where we live. Then I find out that honda have new cbf 250´s for sale in latvia for price 3630eur. So maybe I can import a new one or find a used one from there.

it is light  ~140kilos so basically its as light as a 125 , handling is easy and light , i would say well balanced front and rear
even bumpy roads wont get her of the line , so no worrys about potholes realy and it likes cornering , but if you have to import it anyway just have a look for the honda NX4 falcon, basically the same bike with a bit longer suspension and a bit bigger wheels but nearly same seat high , its a gery import here in the uk , and goes for £500 less here in the uk then the cbf 250

I think that street model bike is better in our case than NX4. The taxfree price in latvia is something close to 3000 eur and ferry connections are good and cheep from helsinki to Riga. UK is littlebit too far away in this case I also have to email to honda and ask how the warranty work if I import bike from another country. We haven`t deside anything yet but I think that CBF could be a good choice. My first bike was Honda CB 125 T -84 and it was fantastic.

btw on the later2006/2007 model easy to spot the other shrouts beside the tank , they did also increased the bhp from 20.5 to 21.5

and for curiosity here the brasilian model with a aftermarket fairing (price for the fairing there under £300 incl paintjob )and one with underseat exhaust (price for exhaust also under £200 ) if you can  trace the parts and get them

Yep i have saw these pictures before but I didn`t notice any difference I also ask about warranty from honda and they said that honda warranty works same way in every country in EU. I doensn`t matter where you buy your bike. Now we just wait for sun and summer. I started my driving season couple a week ago but today it was snowing again

it is a fine looking bike , thats why i bought it , and its fast enough for every day traffic and even fast and comfy  enough to tour through europe on it over  3000 miles in 2 weeks :-))
but it will stay a rare sight as its only £600 cheaper then the cbf500 and you get a suzuki gs500e or a kawasaki er5 for the same price here in the uk , so its not ideal priced to sell
as you see in latvia it cost 3600 euros  in the uk it cost 3399 pound , so its nearly a grand cheaper in latvia as it is in austria /italy where i`ve seen it with pricetags of around 3000 euros

This was a new thing for me. I know that cars are diffrent in U.K because you are driving in the "wrong" side of the road but bikes are also

Sorry - poor sense of humour.  However we do have to have left dipping head lights and MPH not KPH speedo.
