Chatter / I'm off to Wales
« Last post by Itsme on July 27, 2026, 01:23:57 PM »
Hi Thumperteers

Sorry I've not been round much, I've been very busy doing stuff I didn't get to do when I worked for a living! I've been thinking about you all, glad to see the Herald is coming on and Michael seems to be active which is good.

I'm off to Wales (Rhyader) on Thursday with my mate Dave for a few days. We're going on an organised break with Dorothy's Speed Shop to a bunkhouse, there's evening meals, breakfasts and riding routes to follow if you want them. I'm looking forward to it and will report back when I've been.

Stay well and will try harder in future, though I promised my teachers that and they had to get used to disappointment.

Itsme

I have a spare tacho from the instrument panel I fitted to the B'Zuki if it's any use to you - yours for the price of postage and a pint. Let me see if I can find a pic.

Flippin heck Steve.....that's harsh. Although it will be a very good job. Have you tried fleabay or Jauce in Japan?

Addendum .....how about DK Motorcycles in Newcastle under Lyme?

i'm thinking that if they do go ahead it'll end up like the SRX a bike Yamaha made 'cos in the 80's everyone said they wanted a nice big single, no frills, slim, tidy & good looking.

the motoring press rubbished it for not being electric start

so they produced an electric boot version

then it got rubbished for high weight and low power

they did all the right things but bikes with 60 odd bhp and kick start don't appeal to the average biker..

us thumpeteers are a rare breed these days

If the bezel is crimped on as most are you can sometimes get them off with end cutters used carefully although I always manage to mangle them. The Honda was easy as it didn't have a bezel as such, everything came out from underneath.

thanks Ian, will give them a call & send them a pic of the old one... see what they say
