I/we were lucky enough to go away over the new year period to warmer climes. I bought Henry Coles book to read while I was away. Now I know there are some folk who post on here that don’t seem to like Henry, man. I personally don’t mind him, he’s got bikes onto mainstream TV which in book is always a good thing. Anyway I can recommend the book, it’s a simple read and very open and honest. Look man just buy the book man, don’t ya know Henry, he’s got a bike to build man 😁😉

I'll look out for the book Michael. I don't mind the bloke personally, and as you say, without him there'd be pretty much zero on the box about bikes. 👍

It’s a paperback, the title is “Henry Cole, misadventures on (and off) motorcycles “ he’s very open about his past. Which I personally admire his honesty. Enjoy the read..man 😉

His last TV series on autojumbling was much better IMHO . I'm not sure whether the "affectation" is put on for the tele or not ...man. He was at the Tewkesbury autojumble in August which I attended but I didn't visit his stall as we arrived very late- got in for free though but some were already packing up. I didn't know about his past until one of my neighbours told me and all credit to him and anyone who can turn their life around ;D

When I was on Jury Service last year I had an hour to kill before my train arrived each night so started going into Waterstones and reading his book - got about 1/4 way through and it was a good read ;)........I suppose I really should go and actually buy a copy to finish it! :-[ .....( what do you mean tight Bar Steward!!!)

Fair play... man, for turning his life around. I like his "riding" shows, ie. Route 66, Australia etc and most of his other shows. The only thing that bugs me slightly.... man, is he`s always slapping his mate Sam Lovegrove around the head with something. :o ;D

Talking of his mate Sam lovegrove, he really bigs him up in the book. I didn’t realise just how clever that bloke is. He’s the worlds number one brough superior restoration dude...man. Machines crank cases from billet and everything..man.... just buy the book ...man (Steve) 😉👍....enjoy..man

Ps.. yes defo good on him for getting back on the right path with his life, I knew he’d had a bit of a past but didn’t realise just how bad he’d been into the drugs..man. Goes into a fair amount of detail about it..man ✌️✌️

i always thought he was a tosser, but to hear he was heavily into drugs has changed my opinion. now i think hes a former junkie tosser......

I think anyone who can turn a situation like that around deserves a lot of credit. We should all be allowed ONE more chance.

Yes I would defo have to agree with you on that one Martin. That is what I felt came across reading the book, he wasn’t looking for pity or even making any excuses for what he’d done. He came across as being quite humble about it and very thankful for getting the second chance.

you of course assume that he did have just one more chance, and not two, three, ten. regardless of that, it doesnt endear him to me a single bit, its easy to forgive a junkie if youve not been affected yourself by his or her actions.

That’s a very valid point John and one which again I’d generally agree with, but surely it’s better that “ a junkie” is an ex junkie rather than still a junkie. As surely they would just continue to create grief and misery for others. Defo better that one doesn’t become a junkie in the first place. Cheers, Michael

I like Henry Cole despite being an Etonian, rather have him in no 10 than the present etonian! Many musicians got addicted through wanting to share the same 'creative' experiences of their heroes. Davy Graham, Ginger Baker, etc They used to be supplied by Harley Street Doctors too, (watch 'beware mr Baker or' read the book)

Ok fair play to him for what he has achieved, although being related to Gladstone etc must have helped. However because he is such a twat I would rather admire a bloke I work with. He was a total wash out who would take anything and is a recovering alcoholic. After years of homelessness etc he decided to clean up his act. My boss gave him a fair chance and now he is, at the age of 62, one of the best support workers around. So yes I have every admiration for people who turn their lives around but more for those who do it for £8 an hour rather than raid the family coffers or reputation. Man.

I'm a part time volunteer at the local CAB and see all too often the effects of government on the poorest and most vulnerable in our society.
