Title: New silencer slightly out of round
Post by: mthee on December 28, 2019, 02:48:45 PM
It's from TEC originally;

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F272899074694

But I got it off a private sale on eBay for £30, sold as one of a pair bought in error.

The inlet to the silencer is slightly out of round - please see photo in which the perfectly round reducer pipe shows the gap by my thumb. Not having fitted one before, is this worth keeping? Is it unreasonable to expect a perfectly round inlet from these cheap silencers? Get a welder to fill the gap? Use gun gum?

I`d be just either using gum-gum exhaust paste or VHT silicone. It`s a nice looking silencer  ;) but choice is yours  ;) ;)

dress it back to shape with a hammer and a piece of steel tube inside it. 5 minutes work to make it the right shape.

Squeeze it in the vice.

Love the video clip! I'll try fettling it then, safe in the knowledge that silicone can make up any shortfall. Thanks.
