Title: Bigger MASH
Post by: Richard on August 25, 2019, 07:14:29 PM
MASH are getting bigger.  The 400 has grown up into a 650 apparently.

Lovely looking bike but when I spoke to Dave at F2 Motorcycles about why he no longer sells MASH bikes he said they just weren't interested in spares back up or any after sales services they just wanted to push bikes. Maybe they have changed but it was enough to put me off.

Although not relating to the bigger engine, I think if I was in the market for a 400 single I'd go for one of the Honda CB400SS or CL400 Jap imports. Ok, they may be fairly expensive for a used bike but they'll hold their value better.

Regards

Tony

I think the spares situation should improve now they are imported by Three Cross, who've been around forever, and used to be the Guzzi importers in the 70's IIRC.

I'm waiting till they come on the used market as they should be really cheap, taking Rossco's point......

Never seen the point in buying new bikes (or indeed cars) anyway. Let somebody else pay the depreciation!

Agreed Ian, let someone else pay the depreciation!  ;)

As for the Honda CB400SS, could be tempted!

Good health, Bill

That'd be me then... had quite a few shiny new bikes (cars & vans, including my present van) over the years. Can't beat that feeling of saving and saving then going in with the folding stuff to do the deal and riding (driving) out on your shiny new steed... great feeling. Had my fair share of second hand stuff too but I'd always go for new if poss.
Cheers, Michael

Just make sure you start entering your text at the very end Michael, after the bit where it says '[/quote]'

Thanks Pete, I'll try my best next time 🤞🤞😉
The new bike thing just got me remembering about when I was saving up for my triumph 1050 speed triple (2010) I saved up for approximately two years for it, I didn't want to part ex my 955 speedy as I knew I'd get a better deal with the cash in my hand. Anyway I used to have the official triumph brochure with the 1050 complete with the arrow zorst... drool. Oh yeah. I used to pull said brochure out from under the bed every night already at the correct page. I'd just stare at it, then pop it back under the bed and turn out the light.... one night the wife turned to me and said "most blokes would have a jazz mag under the bed, you, you have a motorbike brochure ".... still don't have a jazz mag 🤣🤣🤣

Ayup Mick.

My wife refers to my Classic Bike mags as bike porn and when I get together with mates she says we talk bike bollocks. They just don't get it!

Handbags n shoes.... that's what I say to my good lady wife when she starts saying all I think about are bikes. (She is correct mind you🤣) You're right tho Ian they just don't get it. Plus I also say "I don't just think about bikes dear, I also think quite a lot about milling machines too 🤣"
Happy mag shuffling chaps 👍

I'm hanging on for the 800cc version. The MONSTER MASH!!

Talking of avid magazine reading, I used to work with a bloke who got Tractor Monthly, well every month tbh. Went on for years. Then when the Chinese stuff started appearing he flung his copy in the bin, in a luddite huff.

He's an ex tractor fan.   👀

It's not so much of a coincidence sadly Andrew. I know of probably about ten people who've had PC, including poor Boyd from this parish. Apparently as many as 1 in 7 blokes will get it at some point.

I've been very lucky, and it was spotted very early before it had started to grow and spread. I've also made a very good recovery and was told on Tuesday that I can now ride my bikes and push bikes and drive a car again, which obviously I'm very chuffed about too.  ;D

I wish you a speedy recovery, and you have my sympathy, 'cos there was absolutely nothing pleasant about the operation, the stay in hospital or the first few days at home either. Hopefully you should improve quickly after the first couple of weeks though.

Best Wishes,

Pete.

Cheers Pete. That's brilliant news that you can ride now.

I can't fault the hospital staff in my 24 hour stay over tbh. Fingers crossed for the both of us that our result is a thumbs up from the consultant. You'll be near that point?

Yep, that was on Tuesday. The post operation biopsy showed that the cancer was completely contained and therefore completely removed. Obviously there will be ongoing monitoring of PSA levels, but the consultant said there was only a minute chance of it coming back, so it's just a precaution to keep monitoring PSA level every year.

I'm guessing you had key hole surgery - I was in for 5 days having open surgery, which I opted for because the consultant at the QE in Brum is apparently one of the most experienced in the country. Hopefully your recovery will be quicker than mine then, and here's hoping you get good news when you see your consultant in a few weeks.  :)

Yeah robotic job for me. I'm thinking 4 weeks from op to get back riding but we'll have a couple of hurdles to clear before that point.

Brilliant news for you regarding the biopsy etc. Bet you're well relieved (pardon the pun 😮😁). Fingers crossed I have the same result.

A bit too relieved to be honest  :o (if you catch my drift), but apparently even with this, I'm doing far better than normal, and the situation should resolve itself completely over the next couple of months.
