Title: SRX/SZR Hybrid?
Post by: mav617 on April 25, 2007, 09:04:44 PM
Hi all,

Apologies if this thread should be in the bike problems forum, but....

I read somewhere that an SZR660 lump would fit in the SRX chassis with little or no mods. Can this be so? I have a spare lump that needs a rebuild and figured if I could locate a rolling chassis from an SRX that it might make a good project. I guess mounting the radiator might be an issue. Is this a pipe dream or does it sound do-able without needing to be an expert fabricator/welder?

Cheers guys,

Mav

mmmm yes, sure has been done, not sure who by, but was at the annual rally at baskerville hall...must be a pic of it somewhere on this site. Not sure about the looks, it seemed a bit of a squeeze

There are lots of examples of this mod if you look at the Pics section and look for Doornenburg 2006 you'll see 'Pascals' bike from Belgium, it will probably be at the Annual rally later this year.
Yes the engine does fit but you have problems with the oil tank in the way of the starter motor, you need a bigger battery and the radiator needs quite a bit of imagination.
Pascal cut out a portion of the oil tank and extended it backwards, then used K&N's which left enough space for the battery.
His work is in a Citroen garage so the 'plumbing' up front is a bit more industrial. But it works and gets him all over the place, like our Annual rally.
