It's 10pm and I get a rare hour to work on the bike, only to be evicted from the garage by a whopping great hornet. It seemed to be attracted to the strip light, so I turned that off and turned on a hand held mini strip light just outside the open garage door to entice it out. The wretched thing has not taken the bait. Any tips?

Wear a yellow and black hooped tee shirt and black speedos. Dance the "funky hornet" out on the drive. That should get it out. If not it'll certainly give the neighbours something to chin wag about 😄😄
Failing that just spray it with chain wax or mitre glue activator or spray paint or any other spray that comes to hand. Ask me how I know this 😁😁

i guess it's too late to ask if it was a european or an asian hornet...?
(asian is nearly all black with only a couple of small yellow bands on it's abdomen)
asian hornets are really BAD news, and have to be reported to defra, if they get a foothold in the uk they will decimate our already declining bee population.

If this was the 4 cylinder variety, it would have been the 900 big brother AND had extensive work done by Joolz! ;D
Propellor - ;D ;D :D If only I had a fancy dress box as full as yours! I did find an old can of wasp spray which it buzzed through, no doubt laughing, but I kept spraying until we were both choking and he ducked for cover, still buzzing, behind some boxes. Out to check for life later.
Steve, I saw more yellow than black, so no worries, but please, this site is pretty tough on making distinctions based on ethnicity.... ;D
